North Campus Expansion

As Central Washington University’s enrollment has grown in recent years, it has become increasingly obvious that the university needs to grow with its student body. The North Campus Expansion is a series of projects that will allow CWU to better serve its students, staff, and faculty, including:

  • Health Education Project: Expansion and renovation of Nicholson Pavilion to better serve the needs of students entering the health education field.
  • Wildcat Commons – Refreshing Tomlinson Stadium, which has not been renovated or updated since it opened in 1959.
  • Recreational Expansion: Construction of a new, multi-purpose field that will accommodate intramural sports, sport clubs, and CWU track and field programs.
  • Dugmore Hall: Responding to CWU’s unprecedented growth, particularly in first-year students, who are required to live on campus. As a result, demand for university housing has exceeded the capacity of CWU residential facilities—and the need for this new 402-bed residence hall. Project design by Mahlum Architects; construction by Lydig Construction.
  • Expanded Dining Opportunities: Providing additional dining facilities to accommodate the new residence hall and other expansion in the North Campus area.

Of course, you can support the projects and programs, like the North Campus Expansion, that advance the university’s mission for providing an exceptional education to its students. We invite you to engage with Central.
